Smith/Kautz Rd. to IL Route 50 (Cicero Ave.)

Assisted in design engineering services for the Smart Corridor Implementation Plan to Route IL 64 from Smith /Kautz Rd. in St. Charles to IL Route 50 (Cicero Ave). The improvements included traffic signal interconnect, travel time monitoring, dynamic message signs, closed-circuit television cameras, transit signal priority, emergency vehicle preemption, ADA improvements, bus pads improvements and relocation, and pedestrian countdown signals along with various traffic signal improvements. Provided surveying services to support the Phase II design for the Smart Corridor Implementation for an approximate distance of 24 miles. Specific work included review of Phase I survey information, performing pickup surveys, detailed ADA surveys for intersection quadrants, proposed DMS locations, and existing bus pad improvements.

Performed topographic survey along TR 246 (Red Covered Bridge) over Bureau Creek in Bureau County. Survey limits along TR 246 were 400 feet north and south of the bridge structure, including cross sections at 50 foot intervals to 25 feet beyond the Existing Right of Way. Survey also included detailed dimensions of any substructure elements that may be reused in the proposed bridge reconstruction, including bearing seat elevations, center to center of pier dimensions, and other field verifications of existing plan data needed for preparation of final plans.

Phase I Studies

Performed hydraulic and topographic surveys at Dixie Highway over Thorn Creek Tributary, S.N. 016-0926, in Chicago Heights, Cook County. Hydraulic Surveys included performing a floodplain cross section just downstream of the pedestrian bridge, stream sections at both openings of the pedestrian bridge and provided survey data of the structure (height, width, invert, openings, low chord), stream sections at both openings of Dixie Highway Culvert and provided survey data of the structure (height, width, invert, openings, low chord), provided a floodplain cross section 1,000 feet upstream of Dixie Highway, and survey data of the upstream structure under 10th Street. Surveyed sensitive flood receptors (location, elevation of homes & garages) within the floodplain. Topographic / DTM survey of Dixie Highway completed for 2,000 feet north and 1,000 feet south of the Thorn Creek Tributary crossing. Survey limits extended out to the apparent existing right of way of Dixie Highway. Surveys collected enough topo and ground shots to develop a plan drawing and DTM of Dixie Highway. Surveys collected aboveground visible utility structures, mailboxes, trees, and other features. Drainage structures were collected and measurements taken showing pipe inverts, size and direction of flow.

Performed surveying support for Naperville Road reconstruction project from Ogden Avenue to just south of I-88 in Naperville. Topographic and DTM survey of over 2 miles of roadway near the intersection of Naperville Road & Ogden Avenue. Surveys also included developing the existing sewer plan, existing right of way and traffic count data collection. A plan drawing of the topography, contours, right of way and sewer plan was developed for proposed design improvements. Existing road centerlines were created and staked in the field.

Phase I Study of Manhattan Monee Road from Center Road to Monee Corporate Limits

Provided surveying services to support the Phase I Corridor study for Monee Manhattan Road from Center Road east to the City of Monee Corporate Limits for an approximate length of 3.5 miles. Survey work included providing ground control/targeting for aerial Lidar surveys, establishing project horizontal & vertical control, supplemental topographic surveys and drainage / hydraulic surveys. Horizontal Control was established in State Plane Coordinates (NAD83 2011 adj) utilizing the Trimble VRS network. 27 Horizontal Control Points were established. Vertical Control was established in NAVD88 vertical datum utilizing Electronic Leveling. Benchmarks were established at 1,000' intervals for up to 7 miles of leveling.
